Man arrested after ute filmed screaming down Melbourne street on rims
A man has been arrested after dramatic videos showed a ute flying down inner-city Melbourne streets on screeching, fiery rims, crashing into multiple cars.
Police alleged the Ford Ranger drove on the wrong side of the road and hit 10 cars about 7pm tonight before the man was arrested in Richmond and a “quantity of drugs” was seized from the vehicle.

In a dramatic scene, a video captures a utility vehicle careening along tram tracks on Church Street, near a Coles supermarket. The vehicle appears heavily tilted forward on its right side, with the front right wheel seemingly locked at an extreme angle. This precarious position causes the rims to scrape the ground, sending a shower of sparks into the air.

Another clip reveals the chaotic aftermath of a crash on York Street. According to police accounts, the driver collided with four parked cars. Among the wreckage, a black vehicle, initially parked by the roadside, was pushed onto the car behind it by the force of the ute striking it head-on from across the road.

Authorities initially responded to reports of the errant vehicle driving against traffic and running on rims in the Yarra vicinity.

Police spotted the vehicle on Highett Street in Richmond and engaged in a brief pursuit before the collision on York Street occurred.

The suspect attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter.

Officials claim the driver crashed into approximately six vehicles during the reckless spree through Collingwood and Fitzroy. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officers were interviewing the 49-year-old Oakleigh man tonight.

Police called for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
