FBI Director Kash Patel announced this morning, Australian time, that images were retrieved from “residual data located in backend systems.” These images are linked to the ongoing investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
“Over the past eight days, the FBI has collaborated with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and our private sector partners to recover any potentially lost or corrupted images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home,” Patel stated on X. “This includes data that was previously inaccessible due to various factors, such as the removal of recording devices.”
Patel further revealed that law enforcement had successfully retrieved new images. “As of this morning, we have uncovered previously inaccessible images that show an armed individual appearing to tamper with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning she disappeared,” he noted.
The footage depicts a man wearing gloves, long sleeves, and pants, with his face concealed by a balaclava. He seems to be trying to obstruct the door camera using a handful of plants.
Eighty-four-year-old Nancy Guthrie is suspected to have been abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home on January 31. She was reported missing after failing to attend church the following day.
As of now, investigators have not identified any persons of interest in the case.
In her latest message yesterday, Savannah Guthrie, this time speaking alone, appealed to the public for the first time, asking anybody who noticed anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement immediately.
“We are at an hour of desperation,” she said.
