Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones has been accused of indecently assaulting several young men.
Multiple witnesses who claim they saw no evidence of any sexual abuse from controversial radio host Alan Jones could clear his name, a court has been told.

At 84, the former broadcaster has entered a plea of not guilty to 25 charges of indecent assault and two charges of sexual touching, involving nine individuals who have come forward with allegations spanning 17 years during his prominent career in radio.

The case is set to unfold in a hearing scheduled for several months starting in August. Bryan Wrench, Jones’ attorney, has expressed confidence that much of the evidence is in favor of his client, suggesting it could exonerate him.

Jones’ arrest in November 2024 was the culmination of an extensive eight-month investigation by police into claims of historical sexual abuse.

He is accused of sexual misconduct against nine complainants between 2003 and 2020, both behind closed doors and in public places, including restaurants, events and the Sydney Opera House.

Prosecutors have accused Jones of indecently assaulting two of the alleged victims while they were employed as chauffeurs for him, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

Jones, who has described the accusations as either “baseless” or “distorted truths,” rose to fame with a broadcasting career that began in 1985. He was known for his incisive interviews with political figures and his ability to polarize audiences with his forthright opinions.

During his decades on the air, Jones became a feared interviewer who excelled at questioning leaders while dividing audiences with his outspoken views.

He worked with Sydney radio station 2UE before joining rival 2GB, where he was a long-time ratings juggernaut until 2020.

Alongside a failed tilt at politics, he also coached the Australian national men’s rugby union team through some historic achievements between 1984 and 1988.
