Man shot dead in 'targeted' attack at high-rise complex

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are delving into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man in eastern Melbourne, which they believe was a “targeted” incident.

Authorities were alerted to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Whitehorse Road, Box Hill, around 1:50 a.m., prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victoria Police have stated that the Homicide Squad’s investigations are actively ongoing this morning.

“A crime scene has been established, and the investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokesperson confirmed, adding that “police are treating the incident as targeted.”

Neighbours were evacuated during the police operation, reports 9News.

One said they heard a scream and a loud bang.
