As a record volume of fuel makes its way from the United States to Australia, the Prime Minister is also focusing on nearby allies, including efforts to solidify agreements with Singapore, which is in need of Australian gas.

“Anthony Albanese, Penny Wong, and I have been in continuous dialogue with our regional counterparts, exchanging insights on the crisis and securing commitments that other countries will remain dependable energy suppliers, just as we are to them,” stated Bowen.

Plans are in motion for a potential visit from Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to Australia.

Should this visit be confirmed, it may present an opportunity to negotiate oil supplies in return for Australian energy resources.
