On November 5, law enforcement officials carried out firearm testing near Barrett Lane and Rayner Track. This followed reports of a solitary gunshot heard around 11:45 a.m. that same day, coinciding with the tragic shootings.

Earlier, on August 26, ten police officers were present at a property on Rayner Track shortly after 10:30 a.m. when officers Neal Thompson and Vadim de Waart-Hottart lost their lives, and another officer was injured.

Despite a thorough search of the area, police have been unable to locate any trace of the suspect, Freeman. Authorities remain hopeful that the recent firearms testing will aid in the ongoing investigation.

Victoria Police are urging anyone who might have heard the gunshot to step forward. They are also eager to speak with any individuals who may have discharged a firearm in the area.

Officers from Taskforce Summit used acoustic equipment to record gunshot echoes to try and pinpoint where the single shot may have been fired from, The Age reports.

Victoria Police are now pleading for anyone who may have heard the gunshot to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to any member of the public who may have fired that gunshot.

There has been no official sightings of Freeman since he fled into bushland following the alleged shooting.

Victoria's Mount Buffalo National Park has officially reopened after an extensive, eight week manhunt for accused police killer Dezi Freeman.

Investigators have characterised Freeman, who has links to the disparate sovereign citizen movement, as a skilled outdoorsman.

A $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest remains on offer and anyone with information about his whereabouts has been urged to call triple zero.
