A gymnastics coach will face court tomorrow after being accused of sexually touching a child.

Coach Wei Jun Lee runs a Gold Coast gymnastics studio that has now been closed as he faces the serious criminal charge in Sydney.

The 32-year-old was extradited on the charge of sexually touching a child between the age of 10 and 16 at a Rooty Hill hotel in April.

The alleged crime took place two days before Sydney hosted a state championships in gymnastics.

Lee faced a magistrate on Friday and was refused bail.

He will be up again at Blacktown Local Court tomorrow.

Gymnastics Australia said Skybound Gymnastics Club in Burleigh Heads had been closed.

“Gymnastics Australia alongside Gymnastics Queensland have acknowledged an ongoing police investigation concerning a coach who is also a club proprietor and has faced arrest,” stated Gymnastics Australia in a release.

“This matter is being managed by the police and we will not be providing further comment on the investigation.”
