A 65-year-old Melbourne man faces life in prison after allegedly trying to import 92kg of drugs and 477,000 cigarettes disguised as clothes.
Border force officers in Sydney and Melbourne say they uncovered the illegal shipments spread across four separate consignments in February.
The first three shipments in Sydney came from Vietnam and were labelled as containing leggings, hats and socks, they said.
The charged man had travelled from Melbourne to Sydney several times in February, allegedly with one of the phone.
Police stormed his home in Ascot Vale in Melbourne on Thursday.
They seized about $130,000 in cash, 3kg of meth and 1kg of cocaine, and four mobiles.
He faced charges for holding a large amount of a border-controlled substance that authorities reasonably believed was illegally brought into the country, as well as for handling assets suspected to be criminal proceeds valued at $100,000 or more.
He faced Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday.
He faces life in prison for the drug charge, and 10 years for the proceeds of crime offence.
