Renowned chef James Martin and rugby star Joe Marler are on the trail of a fan who caused quite a commotion during their upscale event at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham on Saturday.
The duo, hosting a VIP suite priced at £1,250 per ticket for England’s memorable victory over New Zealand, encountered an unexpected and unpleasant surprise: someone had defecated in their exclusive lift.
Reports indicate that Martin, who prepares a four-course meal for the event’s guests, appeared visibly startled as he shared the news of the unsavory incident.
Initially, Martin jested that his co-host, the former rugby player, might be the culprit. However, he later disclosed that he had received CCTV footage and was determined to identify the offender.
According to a source, “After England’s win against New Zealand, the atmosphere was electric. Then, James took the stage, joining Joe and rugby legends like Warren Gatland, looking visibly shaken.”
“He announced that someone had left a large mess in the lift. While some laughed heartily, others were visibly appalled,” the source added.

According to reports James, who cooks a four-course menu for his and Joe’s paying guests, appeared ‘shell shocked’ as he announced the horrible find (Twickenham stadium pictured)
They told The Sun: ‘He then told everyone in the suite that he had been handed the CCTV footage and is going to find out who had the audacity to drop a log in the lifts.’
The duo’s suite, which they launched in November 2024, also includes unlimited Guinness as well as interviews with rugby stars after the game.
Daily Mail have contacted James Martin and Joe Marler’s reps for comment.
It comes after Joe revealed that he was paid less than some of his co-stars, despite claims all of the cast were given the same fee.
In stark contrast to some reality shows, where salaries can vary wildly depending on the level of fame, it was thought that the cast of the hit BBC show were all given the same flat fee of £40,000.
But Joe, who as a Faithful made it all the way to the final, has now revealed that he was given less than the number that was shared.
The rugby player, was one of the breakout stars of this year’s Celebrity Traitors, and despite failing to stop Traitor Alan Carr stealing the prize fund, he was quickly cemented as a fan favourite.
Richard Osman and Marina Hyde had shared that stars were paid £40,000 on their podcast The Rest In Entertainment, and Joe said his wife Daisy heard the same.
James is said to have initially joked pal Joe was the main suspect, before revealing he had been handed the CCTV footage and vowed to find the culprit

He said: ‘Yeah, Daisy read that too. She said to me, ”Hold on, I thought you only got 30?”
‘I said, ”Yeah, I did.” No, I don’t think everyone got paid the same. But I’m not bothered. It was 30 grand whether you lasted two days or three weeks — a no-brainer.’
Alan eventually won the series after being the sole traitor to avoid banishment, and he claimed the entire £87,500 prize pot, which was donated to his chosen charity Neuroblastoma UK.
During the interview with The Times, Joe also took a swipe at fellow faithful Stephen Fry, admitting it was wrong move to form his own game plan based on the longtime presenter.
When it was noted that Stephen’s intelligence was praised, despite failing to catch any traitors, Joe added: ‘Well, my game plan originally was obviously I’ll just do what Stephen does, because he will be good at this.
‘Then after a couple of times, I realised, he’s not good at this. This is not a good plan.’
