Logan Paul sells his Pokémon card card
An ultra-rare Pokémon card owned by wrestler and YouTuber Logan Paul has been sold at an auction for a record $US16.5 million ($23.3 million).

In a record-breaking deal, Paul acquired the coveted Pikachu Illustrator card in Dubai back in 2021, setting him back $7.5 million. This transaction marked the highest sum ever paid for a Pokémon card in a private sale.

The investment has evidently paid off for the 30-year-old social media influencer, turning into a strikingly profitable venture. The YouTuber and boxer recently made an appearance on Netflix’s show, King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch. In the episode, Ken Goldin, owner of the auction house, can be seen persuading Paul to part with the rare card.

“The Pokémon market is on fire right now,” Goldin remarked, emphasizing the card’s significance. “It’s taking over the market, and that card is at the top.”

Paul revealed plans to allocate some of the proceeds from the anticipated sale towards his upcoming wedding to Danish model Nina Agdal.

In preparation for the auction, Paul mentioned that he had also invested approximately $770,535 in additional Pokémon memorabilia, primarily focusing on sealed boxes.

During the auction, Paul said he also spent around $770,535 on other Pokémon product – mostly sealed boxes.

Pokémon cards, which were popularised in the 1990s, are skyrocketing in value due to collector interest in rare cards in mint condition.
