Police visited Thomas Street in Lake Illawarra, on the NSW South Coast, at about 9.30pm on August 23 last year, where they discovered the body of 31-year-old Matthew Davis.

At about 7am yesterday, investigators searched a home on Belfast Avenue in Warilla, Shellharbour.

They seized clothing and notepads for forensic examination.

A 65-year-old man was also arrested and charged with murder.

He was refused police bail and will appear in court today.
