A man has been arrested at a bus stop after a woman was found dead in Melbourne‘s east this morning.

In a tragic discovery, authorities found the body of a woman at a residence located on Mountain Highway near Dorset Road in Bayswater shortly after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Approximately 40 minutes later, police apprehended a 39-year-old local man at a bus shelter situated around two kilometers from the scene. He is currently in police custody and is being questioned regarding the incident.

Law enforcement officials have indicated that the man and the woman were known to each other, suggesting a possible connection between the two.

A significant police presence remains at the home, as investigators from the homicide squad work diligently to unravel the events leading to the woman’s untimely death. The area has been cordoned off, with a large crime scene established to facilitate a thorough investigation.
