Investigation continues after police shoot 17-year-old girl allegedly armed with a knife

Investigations are ongoing today regarding the police shooting of a teenage girl in Far North Queensland after she reportedly confronted them with a knife.

The 17-year-old was shot in the stomach by officers who were called to a hotel in Townsville’s West End around 5:30 pm yesterday following reports that she was making threats.

She allegedly came at police with a knife and they opened fire.

Officers gave her first aid before she was taken to hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was declared, and investigations are continuing.

The police Ethical Standards Command is investigating the shooting, with the investigation under the Crime and Corruption Commission.
