A large-scale search is under way for a woman who went missing almost two months ago after becoming separated from her husband in Queensland.

Dawn Wells, 70, disappeared on the evening of December 9, last seen in the vicinity of a bus stop on Kingston Road, Logan. Her husband, George, was under the impression that she was following closely as they prepared to board a bus.

According to Queensland Police spokesperson Warren Parker, “She was with her husband at the time, but they became separated at the bus stop.” After realizing the separation, George returned in an attempt to find Dawn, eventually reaching out to the authorities for assistance.

Since that evening, there has been no sight or sound of Dawn Wells. Investigations have revealed that she has not used her GoCard, nor has she appeared in any nearby hospitals. Additionally, various reports of sightings stretching from Hervey Bay to Melbourne have been thoroughly investigated and subsequently dismissed.

“George has returned and attempted to locate Dawn, and then, after that, he has made contact with police.”

Wells has not been seen or heard from since.

Police said she has not used her GoCard, there is no record of her attending any nearby hospitals, and all reported sightings of her from Hervey Bay down to Melbourne have been ruled out.

Her family is concerned as Dawn has a medical condition that may cause confusion.

“She does have health vulnerabilities, which requires medication and constant medication,” Parker said.

“We think this may have led to her disappearance.”

Wells’ friend Carol-Joy Patrick told 9News her loved ones are missing her.

“She loves to come to church events, she loves to speak to people, she adores babies,” she said.

“We’re missing you. George is heartbroken because you’re not with him.”

Today, police released CCTV of her last known movements walking along Kingston Road just hours before going missing as they appeal to the public.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Wells is described as white, about 160cm tall, with a slim, petite build and shoulder-length brown curly hair. She walks with a distinctive gait.

She was last seen wearing a black shirt with the words “Justice Compassion Love” on the front, light blue jean shorts, a khaki brown bumbag, brown runners and a black cap.
