A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Emergency services responded to Cabramatta Road in Mount Pritchard at approximately 11.15 pm yesterday after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a BMW sedan.

Antwan Sarkis, 55, was discovered unconscious nearby, and paramedics administered treatment at the scene for severe head injuries before transferring him to Liverpool Hospital.

His loved ones tell 9News that Antwan – who is deaf and partially blind – was heading home after a meal at the pub when he was hit by the car.

He was just 400m from his home when the incident took place, and family members say he takes that route regularly.

“He is like my own father, I look after him and make sure he’s alright,” his nephew Charles told 9News.
