Police believe a car torched in Sydney‘s west earlier this week is linked to the disappearance of 85-year-old grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

Authorities have identified a 2022 Toyota Corolla, discovered incinerated in Westmead last Tuesday night, as connected to a Dural property. They suspect individuals involved in a kidnapping may have used the location as a hideout following the incident.

Baghsarian has been missing for over a week after being abducted from his North Ryde home in what investigators believe was a case of mistaken identity.

Police suspect the vehicle, with Victorian license plate 1UZ2BU, was stolen from Victoria prior to Baghsarian’s disappearance.

Efforts to locate Baghsarian continue as authorities emphasize his need for daily medication.

His family has made heartfelt pleas for the release of the elderly grandfather, prompting police to establish Strike Force Chobat.

Detectives urge anyone with information regarding the kidnapping or who noticed suspicious activities in the Dural area to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
