Would-be Liberal leaders promise 'modern', 'fresh' approach

No matter who the Liberals vote in at 10am today, one thing is for sure — there will be dramatic changes to the party’s approach and policies.

Following the Coalition’s notable loss in the federal election, Sussan Ley and Angus Taylor have each vowed to revamp and steer the party onto a new path.

“It is clear that we got it wrong, and that Australia expects a change in direction and a fresh approach from the Liberal Party,” Ley said.

“The Liberal Party needs to listen to the Australian people and meet them where they are. We need to understand their aspirations.

“We need to build a new economic narrative. We need new policy offerings that show Australians we can help them and their families get ahead.”

“Our policies need to resonate with Australians from diverse backgrounds. We must have genuine strategies that correspond to the magnitude of the obstacles ahead,” stated Taylor.

“But policy isn’t enough. We also need to rebuild the Party itself.

“We must bring in new talent that reflects modern Australia – especially more women.”
