The 50-year-old resigned from his position as CEO of Serving Our People last December.

Yesterday, detectives conducted a raid on the charity located at Mermaid Beach, while Matbouly turned himself in to the authorities at the last moment.

In court, prosecutors argued that he engaged in unwanted physical interactions that escalated to sexual assault and rape, leaving the victims feeling compelled to comply out of fear for their safety. His alleged actions were described as “calculated.”

The courtroom also saw the presence of former volunteers and employees of the charity as the charges against Matbouly were detailed.

Today, Matbouly was granted bail under stringent conditions.

The court ordered him to stay at his Mermaid Beach home and report to a local police station twice a week.

He must surrender his passport and is prohibited from entering any international airport terminal.

He’s also barred from having any contact with the alleged victims.

He is due to reappear in Southport Magistrates Court next month.
