Ruby Fraser, 23, experienced a terrifying moment during her afternoon jog along the walking track at the William Jolly Bridge near the Brisbane River on Tuesday. While running, she suddenly felt someone tug on her headphones.
According to police reports, two young males on e-scooters attempted to snatch Fraser’s headphones. The incident escalated when they spat at her and hurled verbal abuse as she neared Lang Parade in Auchenflower.
Fraser immediately contacted the police, prompting officers to launch a search for the suspects. However, the teenagers managed to evade capture.
“Fortunately, I was able to escape by running up a ramp to the main road,” Fraser recounted. “It was a stroke of luck I was there, as there are stretches on that track without any exits.”
The suspects are described as being in their mid to late teens, and authorities are continuing their search for the duo.
“It was lucky I was there, because there’s kilometres [on that track] with no escape.”
The two offenders are described as being in their mid to late teens.
The first is described as having a fair complexion with a slim build, around 160 centimetres tall, and wearing a red hoodie and black pants.
The second is also described as having a fair complexion, a proportionate build, approximately 180 centimetres tall and was last seen wearing a black windbreaker jacket and black pants.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
