A man identifying himself as Dezi’s oldest son, Koah, expressed anger on a local Facebook group about people online who were rejoicing over the fugitive’s demise.

“This is news that I’ll be grieving about while some of you repulsive individuals celebrate online for ME to see,” he posted.

“Those who truly know me understand exactly what I’m referring to,” he continued.

He also extended his condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to the families of the fallen police officer who can finally have closure.”

Reports indicate that Dezi Freeman was fatally shot on a rural property near Walwa, located on the northeastern Victorian border, after being at large for seven months.

Victoria Police confirmed a man was fatally shot at a rural address in Walwa, north-east of Porepunkah and on the border with NSW, just before 8.30am.

Victoria Police Commissioner Mike Bush refrained from officially naming the deceased man, as identification procedures are still underway, but he mentioned it was believed to be Freeman.

Earlier this month police announced three people, including Dezi’s wife and Koah’s mum, Mali Freeman, would not be charged in relation into the investigation, after they were interviewed regarding obstruction of police.
