Suzanne Rees, 80, was reported missing to authorities last Saturday night, when a check of the cruise ship the Coral Adventurer revealed she was missing.

An opulent cruise journey came to a halt following the tragic death of an 80-year-old woman who was inadvertently left behind during a shore excursion.

Suzanne Rees was reported missing late Saturday night when a passenger check on the Coral Adventurer cruise ship revealed her absence.

Earlier that day, she had joined Coral Expedition’s voyage to the exclusive Lizard Island resort, situated off the coast of Cooktown in Far North Queensland.

Mark Fifield, CEO of Coral Expeditions, expressed his condolences to Rees’ family and stated that the company is collaborating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.

“Coral Expeditions can confirm the unfortunate demise of a passenger aboard the Coral Adventurer during an excursion to Lizard Island in Queensland,” he mentioned in a formal statement.

“While inquiries into the event are still underway, we are profoundly sorry for this incident and are fully supporting the woman’s family during this difficult time.”

“The Coral team have been in contact with the woman’s family, and we will continue to offer support to them through this difficult process.

“We are working closely with Queensland Police and other authorities to support their investigation.”

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
