Authorities are currently probing the circumstances surrounding a man’s death at a Sydney hospital, which occurred soon after a woman allegedly tampered with gas mains at this location and another nearby.

Yesterday morning, a 42-year-old woman was taken into custody following accusations of entering the premises of both Kareena Private Hospital and Sutherland Hospital, situated on Kareena Road in Caringbah, where she reportedly engaged in acts of vandalism.

At Kareena Private Hospital, the woman is accused of cutting the water and gas mains and activating the fire hoses. At Sutherland Hospital, she allegedly turned off the gas main.

Subsequently, she was arrested for a breach of bail and faced charges including two counts of public nuisance, two counts of unlawful entry onto prescribed premises, sabotage, property damage, and breach of bail.

The incidents of vandalism are alleged to have occurred between 12:20 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.

Police reported today that a 72-year-old man passed away at one of the hospitals around 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

“Doctors subsequently issued a death certificate. A report is being prepared for the information of the coroner,” police said.

Police did not confirm which hospital the death occurred at in their statement released this morning or when contacted by 9news.com.au.

NSW Health has been contacted for comment.

The woman was also charged with tampering with a fire alarm and trespassing at a Darlinghurst hostel on Monday.
