Reactions from US lawmakers have so far been mixed – and not entirely along party lines.

Conventional neo-conservatives and hawkish figures, such as Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, have applauded Trump. On the other hand, some individuals have criticized his actions as perilous.

Here’s an early round-up.

Republican Thomas Massie of Kentucky took to X to say, “This is not Constitutional.”

Democrat Sara Jacobs from California echoed this perspective on X, stating, “Trump’s actions against Iran are not only unconstitutional but also an escalation potentially dragging the US into another protracted and lethal conflict.”

Meanwhile, several Republicans celebrated the strikes.Andy Harris from Maryland called the military action “peace through strength.”

“A nuclear-armed Iran endangers America, Israel, and the entire free world,” Harris said in a post on X.

“The US took decisive action to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability, protecting American lives, our allies, and global stability.”

Don Bacon of Nebraska similarly warned of the threats of Iran possessing a nuclear weapon.

“Pres. Trump is protecting America,” Bacon said in a social media post.

Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said striking the nuclear sites “was the right call.”

“Well done, President @realDonaldTrump,” Graham continued in a post on X.

“To my fellow citizens: We have the best Air Force in the world. It makes me so proud.”

John Cornyn of Texas also lauded Trump’s leadership.

“President Trump made the courageous and correct decision to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat. God Bless the USA,” Cornyn wrote on X.

“Thank you to our extraordinary military and our indomitable @POTUS This is what leadership on the world stage looks like.”

Democrat John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who has occasionally clashed with his party regarding Israel’s conflict with Hamas, also supported the action, describing it as “the right decision.”

“As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by @POTUS. Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world,” Fetterman said in a post on X.
