Decked out for a day on the golf course and donning a white cap emblazoned with “USA”, Trump seemed to be in a particularly cheerful mood, going so far as to offer rare compliments to the journalists gathered to cover the occasion, a departure from his typical barbs.
“Today they’re not fake news,” Trump said. “Today they’re wonderful news.”
Perhaps the only mood-buster for Trump are the wind turbines that are part of a nearby windfarm and can be seen from around the new course.
Notoriously opposed to wind turbines, Trump initiated a lawsuit in 2013 to obstruct the establishment of a wind farm; he eventually lost the case and was compelled to cover the legal expenses, a decision that continues to vex him even now.
During an appearance on the New York Post‘s Pod Force One podcast, Trump expressed his discontent, labeling the “ugly windmills” a “disgrace” and asserting they “severely damage” Scotland. This interview took place over the weekend and was made public on Tuesday.
“It kills the birds, ruins the look. They’re noisy,” he said, asserting that the value of real estate around them also plummets.
“I think it’s a very bad thing. Environmentally, it’s horrible.”
