UK police have spoken with Crown prosecutors over investigations into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and former UK ambassador to Washington’s Peter Mandelson’s links with Jeffrey Epstein.

On Wednesday, or early Thursday AEDT, both law enforcement and prosecutors confirmed they had engaged in discussions. Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently refuted any allegations of misconduct regarding his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

On Tuesday, King Charles expressed his willingness to support any potential police inquiry into his brother’s ties with Epstein. “The king has made it clear, through both words and unprecedented actions, that he is deeply concerned about the allegations surrounding Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor’s behavior,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated.

“While the specific allegations are for Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor to address personally, we are prepared to assist Thames Valley Police should they request our cooperation, as would be expected,” the spokesperson added.

In a separate matter, Mandelson is under investigation for alleged misconduct in public office. Accusations suggest he shared market-sensitive information with Epstein during his tenure as a government minister amid the financial crisis.

He was stripped of his royal titles last year after details of his apparent communication with Epstein and the latter’s partner and associate Ghislaine Maxwell were released by the US Justice Department.
