Police tracked the 40-year-old to a dumpster in the loading dock of a Carrum Downs shopping centre.
Air Wing vision has captured the moment police discovered a man hiding in a shopping centre rubbish bin after allegedly leading officers on a chase across Melbourne’s south-east suburbs.

This morning, a 40-year-old man was tracked down at a shopping center on Hall Road in Carrum Downs after allegedly evading police earlier in the day.

Authorities utilized the Air Wing along with security cameras at the shopping center to zero in on his location, ultimately finding him near the loading docks.

In a surprising turn, officers discovered the man hiding inside a dumpster, wearing a bright orange high-visibility top.

He emerged from his hiding spot, only to find himself encircled by officers who promptly placed him under arrest.

Earlier in the day, around 10 a.m., police were alerted to the situation when witnesses dialed Triple Zero to report a Holden Commodore driving erratically in Mt Eliza.

When police responded, they attempted to stop the vehicle on Gulls Way in Frankston South, but the driver reportedly chose to flee instead.

The man jumped out of the rubbish bin, where he was arrested by police.
