Individuals who have visited or worked at these locations are advised to be vigilant for measles symptoms for up to three weeks following their exposure.

Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes, and a distinctive blotchy, red rash.

The disease is highly contagious and spreads through airborne droplets.

Measles can cause serious complications, including pneumonia and encephalitis and can require hospitalisation

In Australia, two doses of the measles vaccine are offered to children under the National Immunisation Program, which provides long-term protection from the virus.
