In a startling incident east of Brisbane, a vehicle burst through the fence of a childcare centre, halting mere centimeters from an outdoor sandpit.
Emergency responders rushed to the Hills Montessori centre in the suburb of Alexandra Hills just after 3 p.m. following alerts of a car crashing into the premises’ barrier.
The mishap occurred when a mother, while attempting to park, inadvertently drove through the center’s steel fencing. The car came to a stop dangerously close to the sandpit, as reported by 9News.
Fortunately, all children at the facility were unharmed, except for a minor incident where one child received a scratch after falling off play equipment.
First responders on the scene expressed relief, describing the situation as “very lucky” given that no serious injuries were reported.
Rebecca Grugan, the owner of the centre, commended her staff for their swift and effective response in the wake of the crash.
“As soon as I was told about it and knew about it, I was so thankful, it could have been so much worse,” she said.
“It’s that what if moment that you just come in and out of and I’m just so thankful everyone’s okay.”
Paramedics assessed the female driver for a head injury, but she did not require transport to hospital.
