Turkish side Fenerbahce are reportedly looking to ‘strengthen their squad’ by signing Man United forward Anthony Martial.

It comes a day after Erik ten Hag had stated that the club had been in talks with the French forward over a contract extension.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Fenerbahce are interested in making a move for Martial and have submitted a first offer of £6.8million (€8m) to sign the 28-year-old.

‘The yellow and dark blue team wants to add Martial to their squad with a low transfer fee, using the good relations established with the English giant,’ Takvim writes.

The clubs have exchanged players in the past, with United recently selling Fred to the Turkish Cup winners in the summer, while the Red Devils acquired goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from the Yellow Canaries that same window.

Fenerbahce are also hoping to seal a ‘low fee’ for Martial noting that his contract with United is set to expire in the summer.

The 28-year-old arrived at Old Trafford back in 2015 from Monaco, with the forward going on to return 90 goals and 55 assists across 317 appearances for the Red Devils.

He spent five months on loan with Sevilla in 2022 but failed to impress at the LaLiga club, netting just once in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Much speculation has revolved around whether he would stay or leave, with West Ham, Inter Milan and Fenerbahce having all previously been linked to sign him.

Real Madrid had also been offered the chance to sign Martial back in 2023.

So far this season, Martial has scored just once in 13 Premier League appearances, having also started just five times in the league this season under Ten Hag with the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund last summer, pushing the Frenchman even further down in the Dutchman’s pecking order.
