Yesterday, the White House made its debut on Bluesky, a social media platform favored by many progressive voices online.

In its first post, the White House account shared a dynamic montage that highlights the administration’s memes, jibes, and key messages since President Donald Trump resumed office nine months ago.

This initial post appeared to be a playful nod to liberals who may not be the biggest fans of the Republican president.

The post featured references to the administration’s executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico, a digitally altered image of Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sporting a sombrero and faux mustache, along with a series of pivotal photos and videos from significant events during Trump’s second term.

“What’s up, Bluesky?” the White House greeted in a message that accompanied the video.

“We thought you might have missed some of our top moments, so we compiled this for you. Looking forward to spending more quality time together!”

Disgruntled X users began flocking to Bluesky – which was created by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey – after billionaire Elon Musk took over Twitter (now known as X) in 2022, and the platform reported a surge in new users late last year.

It remains small compared to more established online spaces such as X, but it has emerged as an alternative for those looking for a different mood.

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security also launched Bluesky accounts yesterday.

Vice President JD Vance joined Bluesky in June.

Trump’s social media platform of choice is Truth Social.

Trump is the biggest shareholder in Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that owns Truth Social.
