A doctor previously suspended from the NHS has been taken into custody after allegedly lauding a Palestinian suicide bomber and her son, involved in an October 7 attack, as ‘martyrs.’ Authorities suspect her of publicly supporting Hamas.

In a dramatic scene, law enforcement officers arrived at the South Gloucestershire residence of 31-year-old Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan early this morning. A video shows the moment they informed her of her arrest.

Dr. Aladwan, who specializes in trauma and orthopaedics, appeared visibly stunned when officers explained she was being held under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Police clarified that the arrest was linked to her alleged online statements in November and December 2025, which reportedly supported a banned group, Hamas.

This incident is the fourth time Dr. Aladwan has been apprehended since October. Initially, she was arrested on charges of ‘malicious communication’ and ‘inciting racial hatred.’

Moreover, Dr. Aladwan is under scrutiny by the General Medical Council (GMC). Her medical license was suspended for 15 months in November, following accusations of making anti-Semitic and pro-terrorism remarks online.

Concerns were raised about her fitness to practise after a series of posts on X in which she talked of a ‘Jewish supremacy’, labelled Israelis ‘worse than Nazis’ and allegedly showed support for Hamas and the October 7 attacks on Israel.

Others labelled Britain’s chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis ‘Rabbi Genocide’ and claimed the wide media attention following the Manchester synagogue attack, in which two men died and others were injured, was an example of ‘Jewish supremacism’.

The trauma and orthopaedics doctor reacted in a shocked manner as she was told she had been arrested under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, on Thursday morning

Her latest arrest marks the fourth time she has been detained since October, when she was first arrested for ‘malicious communication times three and for inciting racial hatred’

Just hours before her latest arrest, Dr Aladwan referred to a female Palestinian suicide bomber and her son, who went on to become a terrorist killed during the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, as ‘martyrs’. 

In a post seen by the Daily Mail, the beleaguered medic posted a photograph of Reem Al-Riyashi, the first female suicide bomber sent by Hamas, who was a mother-of-two from Gaza City.

Dr Aladwan wrote: ‘The first woman from Gaza Strip to carry out martyrdom operation.

‘On this day in 2004, the Palestinian Reem Al-Riyashi carried out an operation near the ‘Israeli’ Beit Hanoun checkpoint north of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of four soldiers and the wounding of others.’

Dr Aladwan went on to write of Al-Riyashi’s child, who was three-years-old at the time of his mother’s actions: ‘Her son ascended as a martyr on October 7.’

Within hours of that post, officers from Met Police and Avon and Somerset forces arrived at her front door just after 6am on Thursday to place Dr Aladwan in custody.

Dr Aladwan’s strongly-held views, which are openly posted onto her social media accounts, have sparked controversy on several previous occasions.

They include the claim that ‘British Jewish children are taught that they are superior to non-Jews, that they have the right to colonise Palestine, and are groomed through birthright trips to become colonisers’.

Dr Aladwan is currently the subject of an investigation by the General Medical Council (GMC). In November she was suspended from practice for 15 months over a series of alleged anti-Semitic and pro-terrorism comments that she has posted online

Dr Aladwan’s strongly-held views, which are openly posted onto her social media accounts, have sparked controversy on several previous occasions 

On July 30, she alleged the Royal Free Hospital in north London, which serves a large Jewish community, was a ‘Jewish supremacy cesspit’.

And in September she sparked outrage after describing two gunmen involved in a fatal mass shooting in Jerusalem as ‘two Palestinian martyrs’.

Dr Aladwan made the comment to her more than 33,000 followers on X just hours after the frenzied attack took place and resulted in the deaths of six people, including a pregnant woman.

In other social media posts, Dr Aladwan described antisemitism and the Holocaust as ‘concepts’ used by Jewish people to ‘promote a narrative of victimhood’.

In the aftermath of October 7 and Israel’s military response to Hamas, her posts have included pictures of masked men holding rifles alongside fire emojis and a photo of a masked toddler wearing the trademark fluorescent green Hamas headband.

She additionally shared a picture of a masked militant holding a large gun with the words: ‘A picture of AlQasem a day keeps the Zs [Zionists] locked away,’ an apparent reference to the Al-Qassam brigade, the military wing of Hamas.  

A spokesperson for the Met said: ‘On Thursday, 15 January Metropolitan Police officers arrested a 31-year-old woman at an address in South Gloucestershire for allegedly expressing support for a proscribed organisation – Hamas – contrary to Section 12 (1A) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

‘The allegation relates to online activity in November and December 2025.

‘The woman was taken into police custody.’
