In a conversation with journalists, Zelenskyy mentioned that the upcoming dialogue between the two leaders on Sunday will focus on establishing security assurances for Ukraine. He noted that the 20-point agenda being negotiated is nearing completion, with around 90% already finalized.

The announced meeting is the latest development in an extensive US-led diplomatic push to end the nearly four-year Russia-Ukraine war, but efforts have run into sharply conflicting demands by Moscow and Kyiv.

On another front, Ukraine announced a significant strike on a major Russian oil refinery on Thursday, utilizing Storm Shadow missiles supplied by the UK.

The General Staff of Ukraine reported that their forces targeted the Novoshakhtinsk refinery located in Russia’s Rostov region.

“Numerous explosions were observed, confirming the target was successfully hit,” stated an update on Telegram.

Yuri Slyusar, the governor of the Rostov region, reported that a firefighter sustained injuries while battling the ensuing fire.

Ukraine’s strategic long-range drone attacks on Russian oil refineries aim to cut off the vital oil export revenues that Moscow relies on to sustain its extensive military operations.

Russia wants to cripple the Ukraine’s power grid, seeking to deny civilians access to heat, light and running water in what Ukrainian officials say is an attempt to “weaponise winter.”
