Aussie politician attends Trump's Halloween party (and it's not Albo)

Pauline Hanson recently graced Donald Trump’s lavish Halloween celebration, coinciding with a surge in support for her One Nation party in recent polls.

Speaking to Sky News, Hanson confirmed her presence at the opulent Great Gatsby-themed gathering, held at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Friday night.

Among the guests was Australia’s wealthiest individual, Gina Rinehart, who enjoyed an evening filled with 1920s melodies and fine dining.

Describing the soirée as a ‘fantastic night,’ Hanson expressed her delight at attending the memorable event.

The trip to the U.S. also aligns with her engagement at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida, where she is set to deliver her inaugural international speech on Tuesday.

Hanson’s visit comes on the heels of a Newspoll indicating her party’s support has climbed to a new peak, capturing 15 percent of the primary vote.

Aussies were quick to make light of the fact Hanson appeared to have received an invitation to the Halloween party, while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese missed out.

‘Donald Trump invited Pauline Hanson to Florida to stay in his private residence. She’s currently there and paid for her own ticket too,’ one wrote on X.

‘The best Albanese got was a handshake.’

Another added: ‘That’s brilliant.’

Albanese confirmed on Sunday he has ‘contact arrangements’ with Trump after he was asked if he had the US President’s phone number.

The revelation followed months of criticism over Albanese’s handling of the relationship with Washington and the delay in their highly anticipated first meeting.

During the 2025 election campaign, Albanese was forced to admit he did not have Trump’s phone number and said he was not sure he even owned a mobile.

It was only last month Albanese travelled to the US for his first face-to-face sit-down meeting with Trump on October 21.

Mrs Rinehart, who was wearing a monochrome ensemble, was photographed leaning over Trump’s shoulder and speaking to him at his table during the Halloween party.

The US President appeared to be studying a piece of paper in his hand as Mrs Rinehart pointed at it.

Trump had been seated with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, his wife Jeanette, Judge Jeanine Pirro, and his son-in-law Michael Boulos, who is married to Tiffany Trump.

Mrs Rinehart is on very good terms with the 47th President of the US, having attended Trump’s inauguration and his Mar-a-Lago election night party.

The iron ore boss has consistently championed reforms in Australia, calling for the country to cut government spending, reduce bureaucracy, and strengthen energy security through coal and gas.

In a statement shared with the Daily Mail in May, following the federal election, she said the Australian Liberals needed to follow in the footsteps of Trump.

‘This has been especially obvious this year, with the Liberals instead becoming known as the “me too” party,’ she wrote.

‘Trump-style “make Australia great” policies via cutting government tape, government bureaucracy and wastage, and hence being able to cut taxes, were too scarce in Australia this year to rate a mention.

‘No doubt the left media will now try to claim that the Liberal loss was because the Liberal party followed Trump and became too right! The two simply don’t add up!’

Trump’s Halloween party has previously cost attendees $1,000 each.

This year’s party was named ‘A little party never killed nobody’ – a reference to the Fergie song that makes up part of the soundtrack of the 2013 cinematic adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel The Great Gatsby.

It comes while the US federal government remains in limbo during a shutdown which began on October 1, after Congress failed to pass funding legislation for 2026.

Meanwhile, Republican and Democratic lawmakers are still at a stalemate, as SNAP food assistance ran dry at the weekend and national flights were delayed due to air traffic controller shortages.
