The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred this morning in Rehoboth Beach that left one woman dead.
On March 31, 2025, around 7:58 a.m., officials reported that a Dodge Ram was reversing onto the sidewalk to pick up mulch in the parking lot of Walmart, situated at 18922 Rehoboth Mall Boulevard in Rehoboth Beach. Meanwhile, a pedestrian who was behind the Dodge aimed to assist the driver in reversing. According to troopers, the Dodge moved backward, striking the pedestrian and trapping her against the building.
The pedestrian, a 66-year-old Antonia Walton, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge, a 76-year-old man, also from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was not injured.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Shortly after 8:00 on Monday morning, emergency teams were called to the Walmart parking lot on Rehoboth Mall Boulevard. Their response was prompted by notifications of a pedestrian being struck close to the store’s lawn and garden area.
The Rehoboth Beach Fire Company, along with Sussex County Paramedics, arrived on the scene. Upon assessing the situation, first responders confirmed that the pedestrian had suffered fatal injuries, leading them to close all parking lot entrances.
Authorities have not yet released details surrounding the incident as they are currently investigating.
Motorists and shoppers in the area will experience delays.
