Lebanon president condemns ‘Israeli violations’ of ceasefire

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has strongly denounced what he views as persistent breaches of the ceasefire by Israel. Aoun has urged the global community to press Israel to halt its attacks targeting civilians and emergency responders.

In his address today, President Aoun criticized the “ongoing Israeli violations” occurring in southern Lebanon, emphasizing that these actions persist “despite the ceasefire agreement.” He noted the destruction of homes and places of worship, highlighting the increasing toll of casualties with each passing day.

“It is imperative to apply pressure on Israel to adhere to international laws and conventions,” Aoun declared in his statement. He insisted that Israel must stop targeting civilians, paramedics, civil defense personnel, and humanitarian health and relief organizations, as the tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah approaches its two-week milestone.

‘Pressure must be exerted on Israel to ensure it respects international laws and conventions and ceases targeting civilians, paramedics, civil defence, and humanitarian health and relief organisations,’ he added in a statement, as the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah nears the two-week mark.
