Chicago Bears receiver Byron Pringle was arrested in Florida on Saturday for reckless driving with a suspended license while his son was in the car.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officers say Pringle became ‘verbally confrontational’ after he was stopped while driving an orange Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on Saturday night in Pascoe County, north of Tampa. Authorities say Pringle was pulled over around 6pm after he was seen burning rubber and doing donuts on a public road, according to an incident report provided to DailyMail.com.

‘I observed an orange in color Dodge Challenger emerge from the smoke in a westbound direction,’ read the arrest report. ‘I could smell the distinct smell of burnt rubber as I proceeded to turn around in the same median break. I observed a series of tire marks on the roadway consistent with a vehicle performing ”a donut.”’

Pringle allegedly had two passengers: An adult male in the front seat and a young boy seated in the back. TMZ is reporting that the child is Pringle’s son.

The 28-year-old Tampa native appears to have two young sons. On his Instagram account, Pringle is pictured with a pair of boys, who he refers to as ‘my kids.’ His Instagram account also includes several pictures of himself standing in front of Dodge Challengers with a variety of colorful paint jobs.

A police background check revealed that Pringle’s license was under suspension for his failure to pay traffic fines as of March 7, 2022, according to the incident report.

Pringle was not cooperative, according to the arresting officer.

‘I informed the defendant he was being placed under arrest for Reckless Driving and ordered the defendant to exit his vehicle,’ read the probable cause statement from police. ‘The defendant ignored my verbal commands initially then became verbally confrontational. The defendant was placed under arrest at approximately 6:15PM.’

Pringle’s 2016 Challenger was then towed away.

His criminal record is littered with traffic offenses, according to a LexisNexis search. Pringle has been arrested or cited for speeding, driving with a suspended license, driving a motorcycle without a helmet, and failing to display a license plate.

More seriously, Pringle was also arrested in 2019 for seven felonies, including car burglaries, armed robbery, and firing a BB gun at pedestrians.

He pleaded guilty to firing the BB gun and was sentenced to four years probation.

He has since battled ankle injuries while serving as a backup receiver and occasional kick returner for the Chiefs.

In March he signed a one-year, $4.1 million deal with the Browns that includes $3.9 million, guaranteed. Thus far, he’s neared $3.8 million over four NFL seasons, according to Spotrac.com.
