Ben Shapiro did not hold back in criticizing Megyn Kelly during a recent conversation, as she attempted to defend her friend Tucker Carlson.
The co-founder of The Daily Wire joined Kelly at her tour event in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday night. This followed Kelly’s meeting with Carlson in New York, amidst the ongoing controversy sparked by his interview with Nick Fuentes.
Shapiro, a prominent critic of Carlson, has been vocal about his disapproval of the former Fox News host, labeling him as an ‘intellectual coward’ and accusing him of disseminating harmful ideologies across America.
During the discussion, Shapiro stated, “When someone crosses fundamental moral boundaries by featuring a Nazi, and in my own judgment—take it as you will—appears to excuse that behavior, I will not hesitate to speak out.”
He further criticized Carlson’s actions, saying, “I will highlight the consistent pattern of him promoting dangerous ideas over the past two years, including his travels to Russia to sample bread and portray the Russian regime in a positive light.”
In February 2024, Tucker Carlson gained attention for his trip to Russia, where he conducted an interview with Vladimir Putin. During his visit, he documented his journey through a Moscow supermarket, sparking further discussion.
Shapiro continued, ‘To saying last week the Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro is actually not that bad because they’re being attacked by, in his words, “globo-homo.”’
Kelly then interjected to defend Carlson’s viewpoint on the US conflict with Venezuela, resulting in an explosive reaction from Shapiro.

Kelly told Shapiro, ‘Tucker’s made the point — I’m not gonna try to be Tucker’s defender — but he’s made the point that Maduro is cultural conservative.’
‘Who gives a sh*t!?’ Shapiro spat back. ‘The guy’s a communist dictator!’
Carlson recently has called out the Trump administration for applying military pressure to Venezuela by striking alleged drug boats in the Caribbean.
Last week, Carlson posted a monologue arguing that although Maduro governs with a left-wing socialist economic agenda, the Venezuelan regime pushes socially conservative policies, particularly regarding LGBTQ+ rights.
Carlson also argued that Venezuela does not traffic the vast majority of drugs coming into the United States from Latin America.
Shapiro continued, ‘I don’t give a sh*t whether he’s anti-LGBTQ rights! This is the number one thing about Nicolás Maduro?’
‘You know how far down the list you have to get before you can get to anything remotely recommendable about Nicolás Maduro?’
Carlson and Shapiro have been at odds with each other for years well before the Fuentes interview.

Shapiro also pressed Kelly over her unwillingness to criticized Candace Owens amid the rise of conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk’s murder.
‘I think you and I differ on our angle with regard to, for example, Candace Owens. I think that what Candace Owens is doing right now is evil. It is evil what she is doing right now.’
‘But what, II didn’t opine on whether it’s evil or not,’ said Kelly. ‘But my position is: it’s really none of my business.’
Shapiro interjected, ‘But I have a question: why is it none of your business? I mean, you comment on these things for a living.’
‘I’m not mother of the internet,’ replied Kelly.
‘No, but if this were on the left and somebody were accusing Charlie Kirk of his wife having murdered him, I assume that you would be talking about it,’ shot back Shapiro.
Kelly then told Shapiro she was not aware that Candace has made disparaging comments about Kirk’s wife, Erika.
