A $1 million reward has been announced for information about the disappearance of Melbourne girl Eloise Worledge 50 years ago today.

Eloise was just eight years old when her parents reported her missing on the morning of Tuesday, January 13, 1976.

The last sighting of Eloise was when she was tucked into bed at around 11:40 p.m. on the night before, at their home on Scott Street in Beaumaris.

A 2003 inquest offered no clear answers, with the coroner concluding that the evidence was insufficient to identify who might have been involved in Eloise’s disappearance.

In the years since her disappearance, no verified sightings of Eloise have surfaced. Authorities are now operating under the assumption that she was murdered.

Initially, a $10,000 reward was offered when Eloise first went missing. Today, that figure has been dramatically increased to $1 million.

This reward is notably distinctive in Victoria as it extends to those who provide information leading to the discovery of Eloise’s remains, not just the identification of those responsible for her assumed murder.

The Director of Public Prosecutions may also grant indemnity to anybody who provides information about the perpetrator.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Eloise Worledge is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
