In a tragic case out of Lynwood, California, the parents and grandmother of an eight-year-old boy discovered deceased in a cooler have been formally charged with murder and other serious offenses.

The young victim, identified by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as Isaiah H., was allegedly subjected to prolonged abuse by his family members.

Destiny Luckie Harrison, aged 25, and Daniel Alberto Monzon, also 25, along with 46-year-old Ana Carcamo Zarceno, have each been charged with murder, torture, and child abuse leading to death. The charges include specific allegations of intentional harm resulting in Isaiah’s death, according to the prosecutors.

Additionally, both the father and grandmother face charges of being accessories after the fact, further complicating the legal proceedings against them.

The criminal complaint outlines a harrowing narrative of sustained abuse against Isaiah, culminating in his death on October 24. His body was discovered four days later, on October 28, concealed within a cooler.

The grim discovery was made after deputies responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. local time at an apartment complex located in the 3100 block of Euclid Avenue, near Santa Fe Avenue in Lynwood.

Authorities received a call reporting a dead child. When deputies arrived at the apartment complex to conduct a welfare check, they made the grim discovery. Authorities initially said his body was found inside a freezer.

The child’s mother, father and grandmother were arrested after the body was found, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Bail for each of the three defendants was set at $2 million. If convicted as charged, they each face 32 years to life in state prison, the D.A.’s office said.

“The horrific abuse that Isaiah endured is made even worse by the fact that, as alleged, it was at the hands of the people who were meant to love and protect him,” L.A. County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement. “Our office is committed to ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable for their actions and that justice will be secured for Isaiah.”

Three additional children, ages 16, 13 and 9 months, were also found at the scene and taken into protective custody by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
