A Manchester United supporter has slammed the club after claiming they were ejected from Old Trafford for ‘peacefully’ showing a Palestinian flag.

The fan explained they were present at United’s stadium for Sunday’s Manchester derby defeat against Man City and was removed from the ground at half time by security.

United have adopted the Premier League’s stance on Israel and Palestine flags being shown in grounds at matches in relation to the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in the Middle East.

It’s additionally claimed the club didn’t communicate to supporters that Palestine flags can’t be shown at matches and United supporters fumed online over the handling of the situation.

The disgruntled supporter tweeted a timeline of the events, writing: ’15 Years I’ve been a season ticket holder at this club, and today [Sunday] they assaulted us and threw us out for displaying a Palestinian flag peacefully for 30 seconds at half time.

‘Let me reiterate there were no comms prior to the game from Man Utd to say it wasn’t allowed.

They proceed to add: ‘The stewards below gave no reason, no warning, nothing ,just that we had to leave without reason.

‘They then continued to assault us while feeling empowered by the presence of @gmpolice , this club is failing on many levels, but this is beyond low, every week we have flags.

‘In the last 2 weeks alone I have seen Greece, Armenia, Cyprus flags in S21 with no action, yet a Palestine flag is apparently an issue. Atrocious from Man United, when we thought the club couldn’t get any lower … on that note we continue.

‘Again, no comms before game about this, but a quick search on the Man United website indicates no “offensive” flags allowed.

‘No mention of country flags being prohibited. Does that mean they consider Palestine “offensive”? Talk about what side of history the club stands on.’

The ongoing crisis between Israel and Palestine has been a delicate situation for sport to handle, with the Premier League far from exempt from that.

Spurs supporters were pictured waving Israel flags at their recent match against Fulham. The club had already decided to ban any of the mentioned flags from being shown.
