A water main break in the South Fork area has prompted the Smyth County Water and Sewer Department to issue a precautionary boil water advisory. Announced Saturday, the advisory instructs residents in the affected region to boil their tap water for at least one minute prior to consumption, with the notice remaining in effect until further updates are provided.
