A California homeowner was left in shock after witnessing the chaotic aftermath of a truck driver’s frantic attempt to make a U-turn on a quiet residential street. The unsettling scene was captured by the homeowner’s security camera, revealing the truck driver’s struggle to maneuver an electric blue semi-trailer on a narrow, dead-end road.

The driver’s attempt to turn the massive vehicle around resulted in significant damage, including the destruction of a gate. Meanwhile, a neighbor, who was out walking her dog, managed to snap photos of the truck as it wreaked havoc on her property, tearing up sections of her lawn in the process.

Footage of the incident has quickly gone viral, adding fuel to the ongoing debate over California’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) system. This controversy has been further intensified by a recent audit from the Department of Transportation, which uncovered substantial compliance issues within the state.

The audit revealed that one in four non-domiciled CDLs, licenses issued to drivers residing outside the U.S. but permitted to operate within the states, had been improperly granted. This finding has sparked widespread criticism and calls for reform in the licensing process to prevent future incidents like the one captured on the homeowner’s security footage.

The Department of Transportation audited California and also found ‘significant compliance failures’ and that one in four non-domiciled CDLs sampled were issued improperly.

A non-domiciled CDL is a type of license issued to a driver who lives outside the US that allows them to operate a truck within the states legally.

A CDL for a US citizen takes about four to 10 weeks, according to America Truck Driving.

The license grants an individual the ability to drive large vehicles, including but not limited to tanker trucks, buses, and hazardous materials vehicles, depending on the class of license one achieves.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted in a conference that the tragedies are following a disturbing pattern of ‘Illegal aliens being issued commercial vehicle licenses, and the DOT would be cracking down on that.’

The DOT blamed the California and Newsom for the tragic crash that killed three individuals involving an illegal immigrant truck driver on October 21. 

Donald Trump’s transport boss, Sean Duffy, has threatened to pull $160 million in federal funding and to cancel the state’s ability to issue CDC licenses in the wake of the accident and concerns around non-compliance.

‘Newsom cares more about illegals getting CDLs than he does the citizens of his own state,’ he said. He said that Newsom’s attitude toward requests for review had been completely ignored. 

‘Gavin Newsom has thumbed his nose at us, he has refused to comply with the rules that have come from DOT which is: stop issuing these licenses and go back and review all the licenses that you have issued and make sure its been done legally,’ Duffy said.

The video of the quiet residential cul-de-sac showed a truck driver at the end of the clip, holding the broken gate, with stress drawn across his face.

Many online were shocked by the number of incidents involving illegal immigrants that have occurred recently and pointed fingers at the California governor for the uptick in accidents.

The unlucky local was walking her dog and recorded a second angle of the truck mutilating her property, which also appeared to tear up some of her lawn.

One user wrote: ‘Why are foreign truck drivers all of a sudden coming out of nowhere? Literally out of nowhere into neighborhoods!’

Another added: ‘Dude, what the f*** is going on with these foreign truck drivers?’

A third said: ‘Who gave him the CDL, let’s start there, dude is innocent.. he doesn’t know what he is doing behind the killer machine.’

Additionally, many comments posted were simply pictures of Newsom smiling.

In 2021, 523,796 large truck accidents occurred across the US, according to Forbes.

The accident that killed the three people in Ontario, California, was caused by 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh from Yuba City, California.

Singh was arrested at the scene for being under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter, according to KTLA.

Three people, including a Pomona High School basketball coach and his wife, died. 

Four others were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. 

Singh is an undocumented immigrant from India who was caught and released at the California border in 2022.

ICE placed a detainer request on Singh, which would allow the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office to hold him passed the normal release time.

The suspect has been booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga to await charges. 

The fight between Duffy and Newsom is just the latest between the California governor and the Trump administration, as Newsom admitted Sunday morning he has his aims on Donald Trump’s job.

When asked if he was seriously considering a campaign for the White House, Newsom said: ‘Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise. I’d just be lying. And I can’t do that.’

It’s the clearest indication thus far that the firebrand Democrat, and staunch political enemy of the Trump administration, has his eyes on the Oval Office in 2028. 

Newsom spoke to CBS News Sunday Morning about his ambitions, but continued to shy away from fully committing himself to the liberal ticket for the next election.

The governor is no stranger to the political spotlight – and has used his voice to heavily critique Trump since his inauguration earlier this year.

Recently, Newsom’s social media team has desperately tried to troll the president by mimicking his online style.
