Klein bought the property from the son of Juan Trippe, the founder of Pan American World Airways, in 1987 with his second wife Kelly.
The couple had bought the property for $3.6 million.

The house was built by Grey Gardens architect Joseph Greenleaf Throp in 1891 for Laura Brevoort Sedgwick

Kelly Klein continued to live in the property even after the couple had split and officially divorced in 2006.
She bought another Hamptons property this year, a cottage in Sag Harbor that she purchased for $15.9 million.
The estate was sold by the Bronx-born fashion mogul in two off-market transactions which included the main property being sold for $75 million and an undeveloped piece of land next to the property for $10 million, according to Suffolk deed transfers.

Klein sold another one of his Hamptons properties last year to hedge funder Ken Griffin.
In 2003 he purchased that property on Southampton’s Meadow Lane for $30 million. He did a complete renovation but was so unhappy with it that he had the home demolished and replaced with a glass building.
