Career offender arrested for stealing a motorcycle, drug possession, and running from police

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Terrell Edward Gladin, 38, was arrested late last night after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop, then abandoning the stolen motorcycle he was riding and running into the woods.

At about 9:30 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Gladin for running a stop sign, but Gladin allegedly continued to travel east on NE 3rd Avenue, then turned north on NE 19th Street and tried to ride into the woods near the intersection of NE 19th Street and NE 7th Avenue. Gladin reportedly fell off the motorcycle and started running through the woods. The officer followed him, ordering him to stop; a K-9 unit responded and found Gladin hiding in the woods.

The officer reportedly found a cigarette pack that had fallen out of Gladin’s pocket during the K-9 apprehension and found 12.8 grams of MDMA in the pack. In a search incident to arrest, officers also reportedly found a syringe and 0.1 grams of cocaine.

The owner of the motorcycle reportedly said he was out of town and had left the motorcycle parked in front of his apartment.

Gladin’s driver’s license has been suspended several times, and he had two outstanding warrants for grand theft auto and cocaine possession. In last night’s incident, Gladin was charged with grand theft of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of drug equipment, driving without a valid license, fleeing/failing to obey an officer’s order to stop, and resisting arrest without violence.

Gladin was previously trespassed from GRACE Marketplace and is a registered career offender; he has 13 felony convictions and has served four state prison sentences, with the most recent release in 2020. Bond information is unavailable on weekends, but one of the warrants recommends bail of $65,000 on the charges in that case.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
