Cats Caught in Traps – Who’s to Blame?

Officers responded to multiple reports of cat trapping over the weekend.

A Campbell Avenue caller contacted officers at noon on Saturday to report a kitten caught in a snare. An officer released the kitten from a bear trap and disposed of the trap.

Around 4 am on Monday, an Argonne Road caller reported a neighbor had trapped her cat in a cage and that this was an ongoing problem with the neighbor.

When officers arrived on the scene, they advised the cat owner that she could be cited for allowing the cat to run at large.

The neighbor said he had traps on his property to catch stray cats. However, officers warned him to stop leaving food in the cages to attract cats. They explained he could be contributing to the problem.

Police advised him of alternate animal control solutions.
