Police say the man shot at the drivers three times.
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A 26-year-old man in Fleming Island is facing two counts of attempted murder after police say he shot at another car Wednesday morning. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, it happened during a “road rage incident.”
On 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday a Ford F-150 and sedan were driving south near Highway 17 and County Road 220. When they approached the intersection of Live Oak Lane, the driver of the sedan, Angel Valdes, pulled around the sedan and blocked the occupants from going forward, CCSO said.
He then got out of his pickup truck and started yelling at the victims, grabbed a handgun and shot the sedan three times, police said.
CCSO says that Valdes got back in his car and drove southbound on US-17; the victims called 911 and were able to provide part of the tag and a description.
Police found his truck in Green Cove Springs and the Green Cove Springs Police Department helped to apprehend him. He has now been arrested, and his firearm was found in the car, police said.
