In a surprising turn of events, singer Brooke Josephson has declared her intention to divorce her husband, following revelations of his connection to the infamous Jeffrey Epstein.
A trove of recently unveiled documents has shed light on film producer Barry Josephson’s frequent communications with the convicted sex offender. These exchanges often revolved around discussions of women and financial matters.
Among the more disturbing details is a 2011 email in which the 69-year-old producer is alleged to have written to Epstein, stating, “I have ‘the’ girl,” and describing her as “young, attractive, with an impressive physique.”
The documents, released by the Department of Justice last month, further reveal that Josephson characterized the woman as “smart, though not a genius, but very efficient, will do anything, and is discreet, period, end of story.”
In response to these unsettling revelations, Brooke, aged 46, made a public announcement on Saturday. She revealed her decision to end her marriage to Josephson, the executive producer behind the TV series Bones, with whom she shares two children. The couple had been separated since December 2024.
Brooke took to Instagram to share her personal update, citing “recent events in the news this week” as the catalyst for her decision to make this information public.

Brooke took to Instagram Stories Saturday to announce the news
She added that she ‘was not aware of Barry’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during [their] entire marriage.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to both parties for further comment on the story.
The exchanges came years after Epstein pleaded guilty to solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution with a minor under the age of 18 in 2008.
In a February 2013 email, Josephson told Epstein, ‘Casting girls for my pilot on Monday if he wants to stop by my office :).’
When Epstein requested in vain that specific women get cast on shows Josephson produced, according to the docs, Josephson told Epstein he would ‘do anything to make amends’ when he was not able to use his clout to make it happen.
‘The whole auditioning process is brutal, it’s harsh, it’s filled with disappointment,’ Josephson explained to Epstein, noting it was even a difficult task to get his then-spouse Brooke a small role on Bones in 2007.
Brooke said she was asking for ‘privacy and prayers … during this time’

Josephson had also borrowed from Epstein sums of $120,000 in 2011, and $215,000 in 2013, both of which were repaid, according to information gleaned from the documents.
After evening up on the second loan, Josephson told Epstein, ‘I am overwhelmed by your friendship.’
Brooke, who married Josephson in 2007, added in her Instagram post on Saturday: ‘I respectfully request privacy and prayers for our children and I during this time.’
She concluded the message by thanking ‘all who have shown compassion and respect’ amid the turbulent time.
Josephson told Variety earlier this month of Epstein, ‘I knew nothing about him. You learn more and you distance yourself completely.’
The film producer was contrite in a statement he issued to the outlet about his correspondence with Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell in 2019.
Josephson said: ‘There’s no excuse for what I said in some of my emails. The language was crude and juvenile, and I’m ashamed.’
He said, ‘While I did attend social events with Epstein, and he did visit my sets twice, I never traveled with him on his plane, visited his island, or saw him in the company of minors.’
Josephson continued, ‘In my 47 years working in the entertainment industry, I’ve encountered thousands of people.
‘My biggest regret, bar none, is that I foolishly believed his denials of wrongdoing.’
Josephson said that he was ‘blinded’ by Epstein’s ‘circle of acquaintances from varied industries’, which led him to misread the situation.
He ended his statement to the outlet by saying, ‘I apologize to all who were hurt by this clearly terrible and depraved individual.’
It comes as Ghislaine Maxwell today refused to answer questions over Epstein unless she received clemency from President Trump.
Maxwell pleaded the Fifth when she appeared virtually before lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee at a closed-door hearing on Capitol Hill.
She was deposed as part of the bipartisan congressional investigation into the Justice Department’s prosecution and handling of the Epstein case.
Maxwell, 64, is serving a 20-year prison sentence in Texas after she was convicted of trafficking young girls to Epstein in 2021. The Daily Mail reached out to the White House for comment.
