Sewell, NJ — The Edelman Fossil Park and Museum offers an exciting journey back in time, introducing visitors to dinosaurs that once roamed South Jersey. “While many associate dinosaurs with locations like Montana or Patagonia, they should consider New Jersey as well, since the world’s first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton was unearthed just 11 miles from here in Haddonfield, New Jersey,” remarks Director, Dr. Kenneth Lacovara.

Adjacent to the state-of-the-art museum is a quarry where paleontologists have made incredible finds, inspiring both their work and that of visitors. “By spending a little time in the quarry, visitors can discover a 66 million-year-old fossil with their own hands and take it home,” explains Dr. Lacovara. “This is a genuine discovery and a real piece of science that they are witnessing firsthand for the first time.”

Inside the museum, guests can explore full-scale recreations of dinosaurs and marine creatures alongside interactive displays. Exhibits feature both fossils and life-sized replicas of Dryptosaurus, the first Tyrannosaur ever found, discovered in Mantua, NJ. Displayed also are the bones of the Hadrosaurus, discovered in Haddonfield in the 1800s. Dive into Monstrous Seas to learn about the Mosasaurs, an ancient creature that swam in the very waters where the museum now stands, equipped with two sets of jaws.
