Clay County deputies apprehended Sherry Garrison, 54, claiming she fired shots into a residence occupied by an adult and six children after a disagreement.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A dispute over dogs led to a shooting in a Clay County neighborhood Friday morning, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office reported that around 7 a.m. on Friday, deputies were dispatched to the 5600 block of Bee Hive Road in response to a call about a neighbor firing at the caller’s house.

When deputies arrived, CCSO said they immediately took 54-year-old Sherry Garrison into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Garrison “resisted deputies’ efforts to take her into custody and fought with them during her arrest.”

CCSO said its investigation revealed that a dispute between Garrison and one of the victims turned physical when Garrison pushed one of them.

Following the incident, CCSO stated that Garrison retreated to her residence, while one victim cautioned her not to return and discharged a firearm into the ground on their property as a “warning shot.”

Per CCSO, Garrison then re-entered her house to retrieve her firearm, came back outside, and fired multiple rounds in the direction of two victims in their yard.

CCSO further told First Coast News that Garrison also shot into the victims’ home where an adult and six children were present.

No one was injured in the incident, CCSO said.

CCSO outlined that Garrison is facing two counts of attempted murder, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, one count of resisting arrest with violence, and one count of simple battery.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call CCSO at 904-264-6512 or use the Safer Watch app.
