Huge crowds have queued up outside a regional medical clinic in the hope of securing a Covid-19 vaccine medical exemption – with police even called to disperse crowds.
Up to 300 people were seen gathering outside a doctor’s office in regional Victoria, on Wednesday, followed by a further large crowd on Thursday.
Witnesses claimed many in the crowd travelled to the small regional city amid rumours a GP was providing exemptions – something that the doctor dismissed in a message published on his website.
The bizarre rush comes as about a million authorised workers in Victoria have a deadline of October 15 to secure one dose of the jab or a valid medical exemption.

Victoria Police Acting Sergeant Melissa Seach said police received reports of a large number of people ‘gathering outside the clinic for vaccination exemptions’ on Thursday.
Sergeant Seach told the Geelong Advertiser travelling from the city into regional Victoria to obtain a vaccination exemption is not a valid reason to leave home.
Lines of parked cars on either side of the road stretched for hundreds of metres from the practice driveway, while others stood in long queues outside the clinic doors.
One patient recalled seeing ‘people and cars everywhere’ and said they were forced to ask the woman standing behind them what was going on.
The woman responded ‘We’re here for the Covid’.
The patient said they had assumed the queues were people waiting to get a jab and was shocked to realise some in the crowd had the opposite intent.
‘I’m really, really p***ed off. ‘I’ve done the right thing for 18 months and I sat in a room with people who don’t give a s**t,’ they said.
